4 days Fez to Marrakech
A magnificent tour full of contrasts, designed to showcase the cultural and landscape diversity of Morocco, which will reveal the cultural richness of the Berbers (original people of Morocco), the grandeur of the Atlas Mountains, the magic of its desert, and the spectacularity of its Kasbahs.
Itinerary
DAY 1: FEZ – IFRANE – AZROU- MONKEY FOREST – MERZOUGA DESERT.
From Fez, we’ll journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. Our next stop will be Azrou, passing through the national park known for its cedar trees where the famous monkeys of the area reside. Next, we’ll travel through the Ziz Valley leading us to Erfoud, known for its fossils. Upon arrival in the desert, we’ll take a camel ride through the dunes to reach the heart of the desert, where we’ll be greeted according to Sahara tradition with Berber tea, dinner, and a drum party at the Sahara camp.
DAY 2: MERZOUGA DESERT – VISIT TO THE NOMADS (4X4 TOUR).
We’ll witness the sunrise over a sea of dunes, have breakfast, and then begin our desert exploration. We’ll visit a village called Khamlia, where excellent musicians have made Gnawa music their way of life. With them, we’ll enjoy a small Gnawa music concert. Then, we’ll return to the 4×4 to traverse one of the tracks used in the Paris-Dakar Rally. We’ll make a panoramic stop to admire the sand desert comprising the Erg Chebbi as a whole.
We’ll visit desert nomads in the process of sedentarization, with whom we can have tea and learn more about their way of life. Return to the hotel. Free afternoon. Dinner and accommodation in the desert.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE.
Leaving the dunes behind, we’ll head to Tinghir where we’ll visit the Todra Gorges, an ancient sewer system from the 15th century. We’ll also take a look at the palm grove of Tinghir, and then arrive at the Todra Gorges where we’ll rest and have lunch. Next, we’ll visit the Valley of Roses and the magnificent Berber village of Boutghrart, where we’ll have tea with a local family. We’ll travel along the Thousand Kasbahs route, stopping to observe some kasbahs, landscapes, valleys, and the nomads living in caves. We’ll reach Skoura and visit the Amredil Kasbah, then continue to Ouarzazate where we’ll visit the Taourirt Kasbah. Dinner and accommodation in Ouarzazate.
DAY 4: OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – TELOUET – MARRAKECH.
We’ll visit the wonderful Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, where many films were shot, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Obelix, Gladiator, and Sahara. Another site we’ll visit is Telouet. By the end of the afternoon, we’ll return to Marrakech via the Tizi N Tichka pass (2260 meters), with its beautiful landscapes, arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon to conclude the tour at your accommodation or wherever you wish.
