8-Day Monument, Culture, and Desert

With this itinerary, we invite you to explore the historical heritage of Morocco, visiting some of the country’s most important cities, as well as the most relevant natural spaces that will touch your souls.

Itinerary

DAY 1: TANGIER – CHEFCHAOUEN.

Arrival at Tangier port/airport and pick up by our staff. Departure to Chefchaouen.

Arrival in Chefchaouen, transfer to your hotel, and free time to explore its streets, its old blue and white houses, and its panoramic views. Accommodation in Chefchaouen.

DAY 2: CHEFCHAOUEN – FEZ.

After breakfast, we visit Chefchaouen, a holy city perched on the mountain, located within a biosphere reserve. Its streets painted in white and blue, a town of wise, kind, and respectful people, offer beautiful urban panoramas, exquisite examples of local craftsmanship, and a peace and serenity that is difficult to find today. After the visit, we head towards our destination Fez. Accommodation at the hotel.

DAY 3: GUIDED TOUR OF FEZ.

Breakfast at the hotel. Full-day visit to the oldest of the imperial cities and the spiritual center of the country. We start with a panoramic view from one of the hills surrounding the city, then visit the bronze gates of the Royal Palace, and then enter the medina, to visit Medersas (Quranic study centers), workshops in the artisans’ quarter: Divided by guilds, highlighting the spectacular tannery district. Accommodation at the hotel.

DAY 4: FEZ – IFRANE – AZROU- MONKEY FOREST – MERZOUGA DESERT.

From Fez, we head towards the Middle Atlas, stopping in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. The next village is Azrou, passing through the national park known for its cedar trees where the famous monkeys of the area are found. Next, we will travel through the Ziz Valley, leading to Erfoud, known for its fossils. Arrival in the desert where we exchange our 4x4s for camels, with which we will enjoy a pleasant two-hour ride through the dunes to the tented camp, in the heart of the desert where we will be welcomed, according to Sahara tradition, with Berber tea. Night in Berber tents under the desert stars.

DAY 5: MERZOUGA DESERT – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY.

After breakfast, we leave the dunes behind and head towards Tinghir where we will visit the Todra Gorges, an ancient sewer system from the 15th century. We will also take a look at the palm grove of Tinghir, then we will arrive at the Todra Gorges where we will rest. Next, we will walk through the town and the Boumalne Dades valley to reach the Dades Gorges. There, the river has eroded the rocks to create a beautiful landscape. Dinner and accommodation in the Dades valley.

DAY 6: DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE – AIT BENHADDOU – HIGH ATLAS – MARRAKECH.

We will cross the Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses until we reach Ouarzazate, where we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah and after 25 km of road we will see the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for being the setting for blockbuster films like “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Sheltering Sky” or “Babel”. We will continue the road crossing the Tichka pass (High Atlas) which will lead us back to the “Red City”, Marrakech, and here you can go out at night to have a first contact with the city. Accommodation in Marrakech.

DAY 7: EXPLORE MARRAKECH.

After breakfast, we have a guided tour of the city of Marrakech: Starting with the Koutoubia Minaret, (13th century) sister of the Giralda of Seville, splendid in harmony, it is currently the lighthouse and spiritual center of Marrakech. We then visit the Saadian Tombs (16th century) where its central vault of Carrara marble stands out. Subsequently, we will visit the Bahia Palace (16th century), an example of aristocratic life in medieval Muslim times, where its ambassador’s hall stands out, with its cedar wood ceiling. On foot, we will head to the “Jemaa el F’naa Square” Declared: World Heritage Site (the visit starts around 9:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm) Free afternoon. Accommodation at the hotel in Marrakech.

DAY 8: EXPLORE MARRAKECH.

At the agreed time, transfer to the airport to take the flight to the city of destination. END OF OUR SERVICES AND HAVE A SAFE TRIP BACK.

NOTE: AN ADDITIONAL DAY CAN BE ADDED TO THIS ITINERARY TO SPEND TWO NIGHTS IN THE DESERT FOR AN EXPERIENCE OF MEETING THE NOMADS LIVING IN THE DESERT AND DOING MORE ACTIVITIES. THE PACKAGE CAN BE QUOTED IN DIFFERENT OPTIONS, HOTEL CATEGORIES FROM STANDARD TO LUXURY, GROUP TRAVEL WITH MORE PEOPLE, OR PRIVATE.
